Our design process usually includes some or all of the following:

Initial Client Contact and Project Brief

This is the first step of the process and starts with my initial free consultation for clients based in London, Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex. We meet, I listen to you and your ideas, and we view your garden. This meeting provides me with useful information to write the project brief for your garden. This also includes an estimate for approximate costs and a timescale for the project.

Contract

The project brief will be written after the initial meeting and sent to you for your consideration. If you decide that you want to go ahead with the project then you can email AWB to confirm/sign the contract included with the project brief and return it to us.

Survey and site analysis

Once we have received your email to confirm the go ahead/signed contract we can arrange for us to survey the site, taking measurements, photos and details about what is already there enabling us to draw a site plan. Any existing current and up to date plans are useful at this stage although not essential.

Sketch Designs

We then produce two sketched design drawings to show you how your garden could look. These designs will be presented to you at our next meeting so that you can comment on them and voice any of your ideas.

Final Outline Design Proposal

A final outline design proposal is produced incorporating the original concept with any comments from the last meeting and any changes that may be necessary.

Detailed Design Plan

When you have seen the outline design drawing and are happy with it, I then produce a detailed design plan, along with planting and construction design drawings, schedules, detailed specifications and if applicable preparations for tendering. These more detailed drawings and other items allow either my self and my team or another landscaper and builder to construct the garden according to the agreed design. Another meeting can take place before this stage just to double check we are all in agreement.

Although we also build gardens you may prefer to use your own building contractors and naturally I am more than happy to meet with them and discuss the design/s.

Tenders

If this route is used and other contractors are chosen to construct the garden, administration of contracts and inspection of works on site takes place, project realisation and the agreement of the final account.

Alternatives

Other stages of the design process can just be geared for one area of the garden, for planting design only or for an area of hard landscaping design only.
